|WAPCo opens to the public at Ghana summit|
The West African Gas Pipeline Company (WAPCo), operator of the West African Gas Pipeline (WAGP), took advantage of its participation at the 3rd Ghana Summit, to open its doors to the public.
In addition to WAPCo’s Managing Director, Mr. Charles Adeniji, making a presentation under the broad topic of “Gas for Ghana & infrastructure Plans – Updates & Opportunities”, the company mounted a booth where it showcased its work to the public.
Speaking on the topic, “The West African Gas Pipeline – Transitioning to commercial operations”, Mr. Adeniji took his audience through a brief history of the WAGP project and its successful commissioning. He highlighted the services that the company provides, the pipeline’s growth capacity and growth opportunities .
He noted that the pipeline currently operates at less than a third of its capacity and with high demand for gas in the sub-region, the situation provides ample opportunity for investments in gas purchasing and shipping Furthermore, he observed that with increasing successes in oil and gas exploratory activities and increasing demand coupled with buyers willing to pay commercial prices in the West African Sub-region, , there is great potential for the WAGP to extend beyond Ghana and thus contributing to the aspiration for regional integration.
At the booth, WAPCo employees including the Managing Director took turns explaining the company’s operations to scores of curious members of the public who thronged the stand.
